Five Easy Steps

(to prove those people wrong who think
the internet is good for nothing
but e-mail and porno)

First off, you are going to need RealAudio

Second, look for the little GPF logo next to a review.  That means there is a special question tagged on to the end of the review that you need to answer in order to win that product.

Third, choose a specially marked review from the buttons on the left or from the text links at the bottom of this page and then listen to it.

Fourth, go to our FEEDBACK page, and be sure to select "Contest Entry" under the subject.

Fifth, name the product you are trying to win, answer the question, and submit the e-mail.  If you win, we will let you know!

Don't forget that you don't have to enter the contests!  You can actually listen to our reviews for the sole purpose of learning something, but if you don't want to, that's okay. . . for now.  Now remember: use the navigation bar to the left or the text links on the bottom of the page to listen to those reviews and interviews!

Here on General Protection Fault, we are given the chance many computer and console users dream of: the distinct honor of reviewing software, hardware and peripherals for the PC, MAC, Sony Playstation and Nintendo 64.

PC Guidelines

Our test systems include whatever we can get our hands on, along with these:

IBM Aptiva 66
Custom Built AMD K-6 350 w/3D-Now
Pentium II 300 Smithware

We combine results from these three and render our review. We also modify ram/video card/sound card setups to simulate diverse situations.

Benchmarks

We utilize a variety of benchmarks during our hardware testing, along with a few of our own.  These benchmarks are the ones we use on a daily basis:

WinBench 99
Boot Mark
3D Mark
Sonoma Display Mate

MAC Guidelines

We review software & hardware on primarily Power PCs and a lone IMac. If you would like to donate, say, a G3 Workstation or some equally magnanimous gesture, well, then I would be happy to send you a POSTCARD SIGNED BY ALL OF GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT'S MEMBERS. Not everybody can say they have that, and you could be the first on your block!

Sony Playstation and Nintendo 64

Now is this really necessary? We test them on the proper platform (i.e., no carts in the Playstation) utilizing all available features.
